Whitby Stag and Goth Weekends

Been a keen mountain biker, ive excitied about our second trip of the year to Whitby in Yorkshire. By chance, this trips happens to fall on the same weekend as Whitby Goth Weekend. This trip has a little extra fun involved as it happends to be a Stag weekend and bike ride rolled into one.

We have decided we would travel by train to Scarborough from the Midlands, and from there we would race by bike over to Whitby, the loser would have to buy the first round. The journey is set to take us across moorland and hills battling through the single track and over the hilltops taking in some breath taking scenery. 12 able riders will be making the trip, although some have unfair advantage over the others in terms of fitness and skill. However none of our group have ridden this route before, which should make for an interesting battle. With the trip been a combined Stag weekend, im sure there will be one or two surprises in store for a few of us.

The trip starts at Scarborough YHA (Youth Hostel), this is where we will gloat about our chances of making first into Whitby.Having never stayed at this hostel before it will be interesting to see how it compares to the newly refurbished and restored splendour of its Whitby neighbour. In planning this trip I consulted a number of websites, some specifically related to mountain biking and maps to establish the necessary details for the two wheeled aspect of the trip. Without doubt the best website i came across for my Whitby research was http://www.thewhitbyguide.co.uk. While researching Whitby Stag weekends in Google this website was top of the listings. The website has useful information on Whitby accommodation, places to eat and things to do and visit while your in Whitby. If your planning a visit to Whitby, this website should be the first place you visit. The rate and review system on the website gives you an independant view of the accommodation and restaurants in the town.

We had to decide on a fancy dress theme for our Stag party, and with it been Goth Weekend in the town, what better opportunity to join in and get Gothic for a few hours. This weekend happens to be extra special as it falls on Halloeen, meaning Whitby will be a wash with Goths, Dracula fans and tourists alike. Our goal is to join in the fun and get involved with all these weird and wonderful goings on, what a Stag Weekend we have in store. Im sure a few of the lads will be cursing digital cameras and facebook by the time this trip is over. You can guarentee that some girlfriends and wifes will not be happy. If you have been inspired by our trip and fancy your own Stag weekend in Whitby, then the following link for accommodation is very useful Whitby Accommodation
